## Can vs. bottle

This is the real choice. Leilo is grab-and-go: cold from the fridge, done. Kava Haven works like gin or tequila: pour 1.5 oz over ice with soda water or ginger beer and garnish it. It's cheaper per drink and feels more like a cocktail, but you have to make it.

## Strength

Kava Haven is the only one of the two that prints a kavalactone number (150mg a serving). Leilo lists its extract blend in milligrams but not the kavalactones, so the two aren't directly comparable. Start with one serving either way and give it 20–30 minutes. [How long kava takes](https://softerhour.com/how-long-does-kava-take-to-kick-in).

## Both: don't mix with alcohol

Both are meant to replace the drink, not add to it. [Why kava and alcohol don't mix](https://softerhour.com/kava-and-alcohol).

## Another option

If you want a can with more flavor than kava taste, Botanical Brewing Co.'s kava cans lean fruit-forward: [Orange Dream](https://botanicalbrewingco.com/collections/kava-1/products/orange-dream-kava?sca_ref=12358316.LbbEA40zk2Gdk&utm_source=softerhour&utm_medium=affiliate) tastes like a creamsicle. They cost more per can than Leilo, so the variety box is the easy way to try them.
